Luke in 33 Days: Read Luke 6:17–49

Tuesday 5 March

Read Luke 6:17–49

Think

In this section Jesus spends some time teaching.  In a brief 32 verses he paints a picture of a world upside down.  So far Jesus’ actions have illustrated God’s love and care for those who are broken; in this teaching he speaks of how God who is compassionate reaches out to the suffering and struggling:
“Blessed are you who are poor, who are hungry, who weep, whom people hate…”
None of the categories sound very blessed – but they all illustrate God’s heart of compassion.

Pray

The values which Jesus teaches are the rocks on to which we should build our world. So often we build ‘without a foundation.’  Read prayerfully through 6:20-26.
