Saturday 2 March
Read Luke 4:1–30
Think
The devil tempts Jesus and Jesus resists. The temptation placed before Jesus is the
temptation to take the easy way – the way of power and domination. Instead, Jesus chooses the hard way – the way
of servanthood.
After Jesus’ victory over temptation in the wilderness we
read that he is filled with the power of the Spirit – and he goes to teach and
preach.
But when he preaches the gospel of God’s love (even for
gentiles), the people decide to get rid of him.
Jesus says a lot of things that make us comfortable and
happy – but he also says a lot of things that challenge us deeply. So deeply that they sometimes make us angry.
Pray
Pray that Jesus would soften our hearts and open our ears so
that we would be willing to hear the difficult words he speaks as well as the
comforting words.
